Frequently Asked Questions |
What Surfaces Can Be Refinished? |
Our refinishing system works beautifully on: porcelain/cast iron/acrylic bathtubs, fiberglass/acrylic/tile shower enclosures, pedestal sinks, claw foot bathtubs, kitchen & vanity sinks, culutured marble tops, formica counter tops, kitchen & bath cabinets, appliances, ceramic tile, stone, and metal. |
How Does Refinishing Compare To Replacement Costs? |
Refinishing costs will vary by region of the country, but surface refinishing will almost always be a fraction of the total cost of replacement. You will save anywhere from 60-80% over the cost of replacing a surface or fixture. Replacement costs not only include the cost of the fixture or surface, but the cost of removal, plumbing, carpentry work, and tile setting, plus the time that you cannot use that surface or fixture. Surface refinishing is very eco friendly, it allows us to restore a surface or fixture to a like new state, helping conserve natural resources. |
How Durable Are Refinished Surfaces & Fixtures? |
The Surface Doctor Rx uses the most technologically advanced and durable coatings available. These finishes are manufactured to stand up to daily use and don't require special care or maintenance. However, like any new surface or fixture, a refinished surface can be damaged if abused or the proper care instructions are not followed. |
How Long Will A Refinished Surface & Fixture Last? |
If cared for properly, a refinished surface and fixture can last up to 15 years or more. The Surface Doctor Rx offers a limited warranty for 6 years under normal residential use. |
What Colors Do You Offer & Can You Change Existing Colors? |
We can duplicate and apply any color from the Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Kohler, Aquaglass, and American Standard color palette to your surface or fixture regardless of its current color. You are only limited by your imagination. |
Why Should I Refinish Instead Of Using A Tub Liner? |
Liners are at least 2 to 3 times as expensive as refinishing and can take 3 to 4 weeks from ordering to installation. Liners are acrylic or PVC plastic pieces molded to fit your tub and glued in place. Improper measurement or installation will cause gaps between the original tub and liner. Over time the flex caused by this gap will cause the liner to crack and break, much like bending a paper clip over and over. If water enters this gap, or any other, mold and mildew can grow causing a squishy feel producing obnoxious odors and an unhealthy environment for your family. You are then left with the task of removing the broken tub liner from the original liner, the picture at left demonstrates that process. |
